Kale Chips!

Yes that is right-make chips out of Kale! I received a ton of kale in a food coop I participate in. I have never been a huge fan of kale, they just don't seem to have much flavor and I think it gives salad a stale taste. But, I hate to see anything go to waste... so the hunt was on for what to do!

After doing many searches on recipes that have kale as an ingredient and not finding any that I really thought would be good I decided to attempt Kale Chips. They didn't sound that great but everyone online was ranting and raving about how delicous they were. They sounded easy to make so why not give it a try!

All you have to do is wash the Kale leaves, dry and cut the stems off. Very lightly toss them in Olive Oil and lay flat on a pan. Sprinkle them with Sea Salt and Bake for about 18 minutes at 350 degrees. TaDa! You have just made a very colorful appetizer! All my guest loved them (they were a bit hesitant to try them though-LOL). They was so easy to make, the kids ate them, and we all got our veggies for the day! Give them a try-you will be surprised with their crunchy, lightly salted taste! Go ahead....I dare you to try it!

  1. Is that picture a before or after shot? I'm not much for kale either, but I may just try this for fun

  2. Debbi-that is a before picture. I was going to do an after too but my guest had arrived and the chips didn't last long! The basically look the same after, maybe a little darker and they shrink just a little. But they are still colorful and would look great served in a bowl!
