Camera Recommendation - PLEASE!

I have been wanting a new camera for some time now and I am really close to finally making the purchase! However, I have no idea which one to get.

I mostly want a camera that I can take everyday photos of everyday things. Also, those of you that have seen my etsy shop know that I could use some better pictures of my items-I really need help there-LOL!

I do plan on taking a class on photography so that I can utilize the features of a nice SLR camera, and have some interest in photography in general, but will never be a professional! I would would also like to have the option to blow up a print on canvas if I happen to get a great shot.

With that being said which camera would you recommend? I am considering either the Nikon D3100 or the Nikon D5100. There is about a $120 difference in price-so is the D5100 worth that much more than the D3100? Why? What is the biggest advantage to the D5100?

    i would love to help you! i think since this is your firts camera you should start with something not too conplicated ! i have a D3000 and i pretty much need to upgrade but i can do it at the moment, but i upgrade on a new lens. i think you would love the D3000 or 3100. These two are pretty much the same, except for a few upgrades on he 3100. I am going to sell my 55-200 lens if you are interest abouit after you purchate the camera. i will go to the site and read a little about both cameras a let you know what i think!

    I have been looking at Canons. So I am not much help. Have you looked into the Canons? I'm not sure which brand is better. I too need to upgrade!

    I am crazy about it! It is sort of like a mid-way between a point and shoot and a DSLR. Lots of manual features and interchangeable lenses, but very very user friendly. I would definitely recommend checking it out.

    I shoot with a Nikon D80 and I love it. I tried a Cannon and wasn't too sure about it. My sister has worked with both and she likes the Cannon better because of the manual setting on it. haha I don't know if that helped at all. But I wouldn't switch from a Nikon :)

    I have a nikon D90 and I am certain that it takes fab pics...I just need to learn how to use the darn thing. I am a new fan from the Alexa hop.
