Bear Siting! The photos with it in the tree were unclear! |
Well, what a weekend we had! My husband and I were running in a 62 mile relay from Stanley, Idaho up to the Galena Summit and down into Sun Valley. The adventures of our Sawtooth Relay started Friday afternoon as we picked up our teammates (2 other married couples) and headed up north. Along the way I spotted a bear walking around in an open clearing. So of course we pulled over to watch and try to get some photo's (yes, it was a ways off and across a river-I am not one to mess with bears!). To our surprise we saw this bear walk over to a tree and start climbing it. This is when we noticed a cub at the very top of the tree. It was amazing to see a Momma and Baby Cub together!

The View from Galena Summit in the Sawtooth Mountains |
We finally reached our destination and attempted to get few hours of rest before our early morning start time. Alarms went off at 4:00 and we were in the van and ready to go by 4:40. The owner of the place we stayed at told us it took 35 minutes to get to Stanley, little did we would have to speed at incredible speeds to do it! YIKES (it was at least 40 miles on switch back mountain roads). We got to the start line with about 3 minutes to spare and we still had to check in. Needless to say our starting runner was getting his race bib pinned on as the countdown was starting 5, 4, 3, 2, 1!

I think you are about the coolest! I so admire people who can run and what a fun thing to do with a group! (Okay, I can probably think of other things I would like to do with a group, but I still think that sounds so awesome!) And I LOVED the shirts. Don't they about say it all? ☺ Great job!
