Procrastination = Productivity!

I admit that I am a world class procrastinator! Sounds terrible but for me it truely does work. For example, I knew last week that we would be hosting a large crowd of about 30 for dinner on Thursday evening (yesterday). Did I clean my house? grocery shop? plan ahead? No way!

On Monday I made a list of everything I needed to do leading up to the event. However when Wednesday evening rolled around I hadn't crossed one thing off my list. I woke up Thursday morning knowing that I had to be productive and still sat down to enjoy not 1 but 2 cups of coffee. Around 9:30 the furry set in!

I quickly wrote up my grocery list, dressed the kids, went shopping, rushed home in time to feed them and get them down for naps. OK-down to about 5 hours till show time. Clean bathrooms, clean the living room, pick up the toys, clean kitchen, prepare all the food, re-clean the kitchen, sweep the entry way, clean off the back patio,shower-no wait! I think I have time to plant the flower boxes-check, now time for a shower, I even dried and straightened my hair!

At 5:45 my husband walks into the house and is amazed at how everything is clean and ready! All he has to do is start the grill and we still have 30 minutes till everyone arrives! It was wonderful, we were able to sit back on the patio (which was clean!) and sip on a cocktail while the kids played.

Do you think I could do this everyday? Well, I think I could if I had to, but I would need the pressure. Thankfully I don't "have" too. But, I will say that when I am working against the clock I am amazed at how much I can get done. Especially because some days all I want to do is get the floors mopped and it just doesn't happen! I guess when things get too messy I just need to plan a dinner party!

  2. I would say that procrastination works for me, too. I think it's something about the RUSH. :)

  3. Hey Christine,

    I only wish to be half as productive. The whole straightening the hair thing takes WAY too long. LOL!

    Am following along for the ride and will definitely check out your etsy shop. Maybe we can hook up/link in the future! How cute are your hats??!

  4. I'm impressed! That never works for me - I get stressed out, which makes me want to lay down and take a nap. Not a very productive stress response, I know!

    The funny thing is, I still panic and cram everything in one super-productive day. I just have that day two days before the event!

  6. Agreed. Keeping the house clean is hard with kids around.

  8. Hehe, I'm the same way for the most part. It's amazing how fast you can move and get things done when you have 8- hours to do everything.
    Following you from hop a little Tuesday.
